With a teenager in the house we knew it was likely to be an early start to the day, but, surprisingly, Sophia did not surface until 8.30am 🎅🏾

However, all duly assembled the festivities began😊

Present opening, accompanied by smoked salmon and crème fraiche and/or strawberries with Nutella on Bellini, was both moving and entertaining experience as the attempts to disguise the real contents and the strictly applied rule of “if it’s something you can wear the recipient must try it on immediately” caused much hilarity.

Just to prove this land is not always wall to wall sunshine today we experienced a thunderstorm with the usual cats ‘n dogs! However, still a pleasant 20C…

Ruth is a superb cook and served up a wonderful multi course meal assisted by her most knowledgeable sommelier Michael, making our first ever “upside down” Christmas immensely enjoyable🎅🏾🇭🇲

With an early start planned for our hop to Sydney, where Team Dobbie will be joining us, we packed and retired c. 10 pm reflecting on how fortunate we are to have such marvellous friends for whom nothing was too much effort as they introduced us to the hidden gem that is Canberra 😍
