Today marked the end of our stay in Canberra and, with mixed emotions we said goodbye to the most welcoming home where we had been staying.

However, fortunately for us, Team Dobbie were driving to Sydney with all our hold luggage and meeting us there😊

On arriving at Canberra Airport we met up briefly with Elizabeth, now a local, whom I first met over 30 year’s ago!

We were delighted to discover that our plane was a Twin Prop Dash – I think there’s something special about walking across the tarmac then climbing up a few steps …😊

The flight is a wee 40 minute hop and we were blessed with clear views as we approached the huge, sprawling city that is Sydney

Sydney International Airport is, unsurprisingly, large, but we eventually negotiated our way to the trains where, for Julie and I at least, the novel experience of double decker trains awaited us😉

Within minutes we met up with our ” tour guides” who steered us through this stunning bustling city to a roof top bar👍😉

Michael & Ruth had very generously given us the ultimate Christmas gifts: Calum & Morven were going to climb Sydney Harbour Bridge between 6 & 9 pm…

…and Julie and I were joining Team Dobbie at a performance of The Circus 1903 at the Opera House at 7pm..it didn’t disappoint 🇭🇲😊

As dusk fell our intrepid climbers returned with smiles as wide as the structure they had just “conquered”

Finally, after this most iconic of days, we travelled by train, bus & car to the house of yet another old friend where we stay for 2 nights..does travelling get much better than this?😎🇭🇲
