Thursday 4 January 24

Today, being C&M’s last day in NZ, we were determined to make the most of it, especially since we would be in the company of my cousin Gail and her husband Ian๐Ÿ˜Š.

With a forecast of fine weather peaking at 24C we decided we should maximize the outdoor activities, but first breakfast at the popular Child Sister restaurant

Well fed, it was time to move on..

We decided that the first task was to take a 30 mins bus across town to take the Gondola ride up to The Crater Rim on the south side…

Wide boulevards and cycle lanes๐Ÿ˜Š
Up, up and away ๐Ÿ˜‰

The views ascending and then from the viewing gallery over The Crater Rim were indeed excellent, especially with the bonus of it being a take off location for the local paragliders!

Great scran too…๐Ÿ˜‰
Guess what they are all looking at๐Ÿ˜‰

After doing the return bus into the City Centre stage 2 was a 40 mins City Tour on the iconic 100 year old Christchurch tram – yay!

We disembarked alongside the River Avon then found a great Irish pub for a late lunch – the appeal of a couple of pints of cold Guinness on this very warm day was irresistible to Calum and Ian๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ

A stroll along the riverside soon had us humming along to “New York, New York” when we heard a blind busker doing a great Karaoke versionโ˜บ๏ธ๐ŸŽถ

Stage 3 had us visiting the local Botanic Gardens, in a very pleasant 23C๐Ÿ˜Ž

We then had the pleasure of taking an even older tram back into the city centre๐Ÿ˜Š

How cool are these, eh๐Ÿ˜‰

After absorbing more of the atmosphere of this lovely city we found a great Indian restaurant to have C&M’s final dinner of this trip…

The street with all the bars and eateries are, according to our tram tour guide, heavily influenced architecturally by Spain and every establishment has these tiles displayed somewhere ๐Ÿ˜Š

So, a fabulous way for all of us, and especially for C&M, to spend their final day in NZ as tomorrow they’re off to San Francisco….just not sure they’ll be wearing flowers in their hair๐Ÿ˜‰

Tech Note: I’ve had some probs today loading images to this site, such that not all the images/comments are necessarily in the right sequence, but not sure how that has happened ๐Ÿค” Hopefully, it’s a one-off๐ŸคžN.
