Having woken to another glorious day and the weatherman predicting a high of 27 C it was a “no brainer” to explore more of quirky Ōamaru

One really positive trait of NZ has been the quality of the eateries; from the simple street food or café to the gastro pubs and restaurants we have been served meals of the highest quality, varied, immaculately presented and very tasty☺️
Today’s lunch was no different..

Around the corner we spotted this sign – further research required!

We then found a Motor Museum so, for all you petrolheads, how many have you driven or owned? I was 4☺️

Hearing live music from inside the museum we followed our ears to where a 6 piece Vintage Rock ‘n Roll band were playing 🎷🎺🎸🥁🎤
At 3 pm it was now 27C, so cold beers definitely required as we sat and enjoyed this street entertainment ☺️

Our man at the museum had recommended visiting the Ōamaru Visitor Centre, where we finally got the opportunity to try out some bikes of that era😉

Suitably inspired, more “street food” was required…

..just an old container, but how well it’s been transformed ☺️
At c.5 pm we headed up the road to Timaru, but not before calling in at this appropriately named food establishment 😉

Fridge filled we arrived at our campsite just after 6 pm at 29C, where the receptionst was sweltering and told us it had reached 35 C earlier…well we were 5O miles closer to the equator😎
Fortunately this site had its own pool, so we cooled off there before having our BBQ to round off another fab day in this country of great contrasts🇳🇿☺️

Community Corrections = probation / community service. But you probably knew that already!
