Today meant an early start as we needed to be at the ferry terminal by 8.10 am for our return trip to Burnaby…

…however, Julie couldn’t resist getting one more shot of cannabis before we left Gibsons…

The crossing takes just 40 mins from Langdale, just long enough to get a coffee before you dock at the terminal in Horseshoe Bay…

Whilst on board I bought 3 magazines that shouted “Canada🇨🇦” across their front pages… especially when it became clear that the title Kitplanes was all about the real thing, not model aircraft!

After some brunch we caught up with Leith & Rob’s 3 adult offspring before all but one of them – an important Uni lecture called – joined us for a wee stroll around the neighbourhood, Burnaby Heights.

Having been raised there it’s unsurprising that they may take their environment somewhat for granted, but visitors, quite naturally, see things through a different lens, particularly the architecture of the residential homes, the materials used and all set against the magnificent backdrop of the North Shore Mountains, a sub-range of the Coast Mountains …🇨🇦🗻

…and to have 2,000 m high peaks so close to the city (think one and half times the height of Ben Nevis) provides a real sense of grandeur…

We rounded off yet another remarkable day with a “full set” around the dinner table, with me losing count of the number of times I asked: “Do you really appreciate how fortunate you are to live here? 😊🇨🇦”
