Today was all about the walking and the first venue we were “Chauffeur driven” to was the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve…

…for a wee trundle around Rice Lake where we treated to more examples of joinery, Canadian style…

Our chosen trail was a hike round Rice Lake…

We also found this plaque commemorating an artist there…

We knew nothing of The Group of Seven, but Leith and Rob did, of course; however, why had he been chosen to be memorized here?
As usual, Wikipedia came to the rescue 😊…

…turns out he had lived in Rice Lake Road…
On heading down the mountain we stopped briefly to take a wee look at the campus of Capilano University where L & R’s younger son is in the final year of his music degree…

After lunch Leith dug out some of her “pre digital camera” photo albums.
These were, unsurprisingly, perfectly organized and labeled so we were reminded of our delayed honeymoon here in 1996 ☺️ and Leith’s visits to Scotland in the 90s too..

…. definitely a blast from the past 😊🇨🇦🏴
With the weather deteriorating Julie and I then decided to dig out all our GoreTex and go for our 2nd walk investigating the local neighborhood, particularly the variety and individuality of house styles…

One magnificent building was the Community School…

We then made it up to Hastings Street, a 6 lane thoroughfare that runs East West into Downtown Vancouver…

“Quelle surprise” it wasn’t long before we sought out a coffee shop, where the locals were watching their favourite sport…

As we emerged into a seasonal atmosphere we decided it was time to head back to our refuge…

…where we rounded off the evening with another “first” when we were introduced to the card game “Hearts” with the promise that, in the coming days, the national card game of Canada, Euchre, was on the agenda too…🤔
